Brompton Bike Hire AECOM Project Centre

Best behaviour change campaign

Launched in April 2011, Brompton Bike Hire was created to address the clear need for a cycle hire scheme that is accessible to all, easy and cheap to install and run, economical to use, not dependent on state subsidies, flexible and compact.

The company is expanding rapidly across the UK and is committed to providing an efficient, flexible, healthy and environmentally friendly solution to travel for the future.

Brompton Bike Hire is the sister company of Brompton Bicycle.

Best innovation - use of technology or new technique

With offices throughout the UK we work with our clients and local communities to plan, design and deliver active travel infrastructure that helps to connect communities, improve public health, protect the environment and boost local economies. Drawing on national expertise and local knowledge, we help our clients at every stage of their project, from persuasive funding applications through to the design and delivery of effective, innovative cycle schemes. We develop policies and strategies; provide consultation and programme management support; and help promote and evaluate the benefits of cycling infrastructure.

Our project experience includes helping to secure significant Cycle City Ambition Grant funding in West Yorkshire; planning an active travel network in Dublin and in Wolverhampton; design and delivery of step change cycling infrastructure in Dublin, Newcastle and Greater Manchester and the next generation east-west and north-south cycle superhighway schemes in London; promotion of cycling as part of Tyne and Wear’s Go Smarter Programme; and outcomes monitoring of Centro’s cycling engagement programme.
