Why attend Cycle City Active City Leicester?
In 2016 we are excited to be bringing Cycle City Active City to Leicester. Leicester has been recently reviewed by The Guardian as an “unlikely poster boy of cycling”.
Through the Connecting Leicester Programme city is transformed into a connected, safe and family friendly city centre, which in turn has attracted big business such as IBM, Next, and Santander to join the likes of Pepsico to base major offices in the city.
As a city which was not part of the Cycle City Ambition Programme or the Cycle Demonstration Towns and Cities, Leicester provides lessons of what can be achieved through channelling local funding to Active Travel.
One of the key themes of this event is why walking and cycling are good for cities, businesses and public health. Leicester is a poster boy for all of these.
Also discover how the Cycle Walking Infrastruture Strategy will be implemented, where the £300m of funding for cycling announced in the November Spending Review will be allocated.
As this year we collaborate with The Association for Bikeability Schemes, Wheels For All and Euopenan Cycle Logitics Federation, Cycle City Active City will be the meeting place for cycle planners from around the UK and Europe.
