Why Modelling World is a unique conference...
'Challenging the regime is what we do at Modelling World. And I’d like to think that over the 13 years of its existence, we have collectively changed to some extent the way in which transport modelling is done in the UK. What we haven’t managed to change very much is how modelling is viewed by colleagues: expensive, hard to understand, usually late and often irrelevant for decision-makers.
'More and more evidence, based on bigger and bigger data sources and more and more complex analyses, will not change this, unless we can appeal to these perceived experiences of life. This may require us to challenge the current regime a bit more, opening the door for complementary analyses and alternative paradigms....'
Tom van Vuren, Chairman of Modelling World, Divisional Director at Mott MacDonald and a Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds
