Russell FennerHead of Innovation Russell is a Chartered Marketer with over fifteen years of experience working in commercial development and innovation roles in the transport, technology and software markets. He has an MSc in Strategic Marketing and is a PRINCE2 practitioner. In a previous role at EValu8, he focused on growing the Source East charging point network and managing the feasibility study for E-Mobility Hubs. Now at E-Car, he has been developing a project portfolio of transport innovations, including MaaS and last mile solutions alongside business model innovation for entry into new market sectors. Russell has managed numerous projects including the rollout of the East of England Plugged in Places project, a £1m ERDF project supporting sustainable transport, and the InnovateUK funded Motionhub project. |
Nigel CullumBusiness development manager Nigel is business development manager of ITSO, a non-profit distributing membership organisation, which aims to make travelling on public transport throughout the UK seamless and easy by enabling smart ticketing technology. In his role as business development manager, Nigel manages the demand for ITSO services in mobile and future multi-modal transport ticketing technology solutions. Before joining ITSO, Nigel was a Client Partner for a leading US digital customer experience digital technology provider. Nigel’s clients included Starbucks, Jaguar Land Rover and Samsonite. Prior to this role, Nigel spent more than eight years as Commercial Director of a leading smart ticketing services company. What has interested Nigel most throughout his career are the changes and challenges presented by market disruptors who understand the demands of customers from a usage rather than technology standpoint. Nigel has more than 25 years’ experience in senior commercial roles in the secure ID, financial card and transaction processing sectors, working for US, Australian and Middle Eastern companies. He loves to embrace the different cultures, languages and cuisines of the world, and has had the pleasure of experiencing this as part of his career.

Alan FarrellyCOO and Co-founder CityAlan has grown up in the bus industry. His family have been operating buses across Ireland for over 35 years, working a number of different roles including driver, transport manager and MD as well as the Irish Sales Director for UNVI Buses. Alan's conversion to the technology side of the industry came from the need to improve passenger load factors, efficiency and reliability of his family's bus fleet using data. Subsequent positive results led Alan to become a Co-founder of CitySwifter, along with former Citi Bank Analyst, Brian O'Rourke, in 2017. After expanding to the UK in 2018, CitySwifter is currently working with a number of the largest PLCs as well as innovative regional operators. The last six months has seen CitySwifter open a North American HQ, expand its product offerings and close a significant investment round led by a well-known Irish aviation family. |

Vicky WilliamsDirector of Commercial Services Vicky loves data, has a passion for pushing the boundaries getting the best outcomes for customers and thrives on genuinely working in partnership to encourage modal shift. These are all good things given that she is Director of Commercial Services at the country’s largest independent bus company, trentbarton. Vicky now manages and develops networks and ticketing for over 40 brands as well as mango, trentbarton’s award-winning smart card. Vicky has over 10 years’ experience within the transport industry working for Go Ahead and First prior to trentbarton and was part of the launch team of the ‘the key’ smart card during her time with Salisbury Reds, Bluestar and more bus. |
Phil RigbyStrategy & Relationships Phil is fascinated by the attitudes that drive our behaviours. Starting his career in London training in Community Development at the University of Westminster he then become the national lead for Patient and Public Involvement for an NHS Commission. Becoming more interested in service design he went on to commission services for Liverpool City Council and develop the iNnovation Network. Including his time working as a change specialist for a global management consultancy, he has nearly 20 years experience in working with the UKs public sector to develop and manage people centred transformation. |
Anthony JonesSenior Transport Consultant Anthony is a Senior Transport Consultant in Atkins Sustainable Transport & Strategy team based in the Birmingham office. Anthony has experience of working in a Transport and Project Management environment including developing and managing a range of transport projects from initial concept to delivery. Anthony’s experience is based predominantly on policy and strategy work in the active travel sector, project roles include a secondment to TfGM to help manage the Cycle City Ambition Programme and cycling and walking strategies for various local authorities. Anthony has recently completed a technical lead role on the first West Midlands ‘Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan’. |

Neil HerronFounder & CEO Neil Herron is the founder and CEO of Grid Smarter Cities. He has led Grid through the LSEG’s ELITE programme for emerging high-growth companies, as well as ensuring Grid’s 7th placing in the 2018 IP100 League table. Neil is the named inventor for multiple Innovate UK funded projects and solutions, and the 13+ patents that sit behind them. He’s a serial entrepreneur developing new propositions in the smart city space. He has sat on the ITS UK representative on the national British Parking Association Forum, and is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Smart Cities, contributing to recent white papers to help form government Smart City strategy. |
Deborah FoxHead of Demand Management Deborah has a background in behaviour change working for national charities like Keep Britain Tidy. For the past nine years, she has worked in large local authorities in the south and east of England, most recently as a commissioner at Essex County Council. Deborah brings delivery experience to her new role in Transport for West Midlands, having successfully managed public transport budgets up to £31 million per year and transformed services to become more commercial. Deborah feels that congestion is one of our biggest behaviour change challenges of the 21st Century and she is relishing the chance to make an impact on it at a regional scale. Her role as Head of Demand Management reflects a growing professional discipline within combined authorities, which was once the preserve of major international sporting events. |
Francesco AngelliniSenior Transport Consultant Francesco is a civil engineer with broad experience in transport planning and design consultancy. He specialises in the assessment and the design for passengers operations at transport interchanges, spectators operations at stadia and sport events, visitors movement in museums, public buildings, tall buildings, mass evacuation planning, and pedestrian movements in public realm including streetscape and landscape design. He has pioneered the use of Wi-Fi tracking and analytics technology for public realm planning and design. |

Dr George EconomidesAdvisor After completing his doctorate in chemistry, George joined Preston Motorsports to facilitate the transfer of innovation from the racetrack to the wider world, where he quickly rose to Head of Strategy. In 2017, he joined the Oxfordshire County Council’s Innovation and Research Team, as Team Leader in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, the first CAV-dedicated position from a local authority. He is interested in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Mobility as a Service, Demand Responsive Transport and Internet of Things.
