Great Northern

Govia Thameslink Railway Ltd is the combined rail franchise operating four key rail brands - Thameslink, Great Northern, Southern and our premium airport connection product Gatwick Express.

The key routes are between Bedford and Brighton, across the South of England including Eastbourne to Southampton and trains from London Kings Cross to Peterborough, Cambridge and Kings Lynn.    

This franchise is going through a major change programme with delivery of new trains being on Thameslink, Gatwick Express and our Moorgate to Welwyn services.    In addition to new trains, London Bridge is being rebuilt to deliver a greater station retail experience and with major improvements to the rail infrastructure to improve service performance and increase capacity to meet the needs of the growing rail market.

At the end of the improvements, we will be operating direct services from Cambridge and Peterborough to the South Coast and linking Gatwick Airport from East Anglia.  With increased capacity with 24 trains per hour operating through our London core route – London St Pancras International through to London Bridge.
