Department for TransportThe Department for Transport supports the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. Our priorities are to boost economic growth and opportunity, build a One Nation Britain, improve journeys, and ensure safe, secure and sustainable transport. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move, provide policy, guidance and funding to local authorities in order to help them run and maintain their road networks. We improve passenger and freight travel and develop new major transport investments for rail, road, aviation and maritime. Reason to visit the stand The Transport Appraisal and Strategic Modelling division, who manage the development of WebTAG guidance and other modelling and software tools, will be on hand to talk about a wide range of topics, such as applying WebTAG, technical support or more scheme specific issues. For example, we have recently published updated WebTAG guidance on the wider economic impacts of transport investments. As well as setting out how to assess the investment, employment and productivity impacts of a transport scheme, it provides high level principles on forms of supplementary economic modelling including Spatial-Computable General Equilibrium modelling and Land-Use Transport Interaction modelling. The stall will be an opportunity for stakeholders to feed into the development of TASM’s Appraisal and Modelling strategy. This aims to keep the Department’s evidence base up-to-date and support users in technical aspects of guidance, giving stakeholders a say on the Department’s future appraisal and modelling priorities. |
