Scottish Natural Heritage is Scotland’s nature agency. We work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it. So that all nature in Scotland – our key habitats and landscapes, all our green space and our native species – is maintained, enhanced and brings us benefits.

We manage the European Regional Development Fund on behalf of Scottish Government. The Green Infrastructure Strategic Intervention aims to improve Scotland’s urban environment by increasing and enhancing greenspace in our towns and cities, especially close to areas of multiple deprivation. This will make these areas more attractive for people to live and work in, and therefore attract jobs, businesses and further investment.

We intend to deliver a minimum of 15 capital projects across Scotland that improve or create at least 140 hectares of urban green infrastructure. We also intend to deliver 10-15 smaller community engagement projects where the focus is on working with people to help them make the most of their local greenspace. Read more here.
