Pre-conference Social Ride or Walk

Meet outside Lord Ashcroft building at Anglia Ruskin University at 18.30

Join us for a relaxing 3.5 mile social ride from Anglia Ruskin University to The Rose and Crown pub in Writtle. The route takes along some of the best traffic free routes in Essex including National Cycle Network Route 1 through Central and Admirals park. The ride will also provide an opportunity to take in some of the recent infrastructure delivered as part of the South East Local Enterprise Partnerships Local Growth Fund. The vast majority of the route will be traffic free.

An evening walk led by Essex County Council. A 2-mile walking tour which gives an insight into Chelmsford Industrial past while demonstrating how sites have been repurposed towards increased residential and commercial space. The route which takes in part of the LCWIP walking (and cycling) route, planned public realm improvements to a key gateway to the high street and new walking infrastructure to a new shopping area. The return walk to ARU will be via a popular shared route along the river through a linear park which connects various walking destinations. Route: from ARU to Chelmsford City Centre, Cathedral, new shopping area to Moulsham Street pubs.

All participants must agree to understand that this event is not a race and all riders must obey the Highway Code and the Bike Events Rules of the Road to observe local traffic laws and ensure that their conduct in no way puts at risk the welfare of any participant during a cycle ride. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to determine his or her level of bike and road handling ability. The organisers have requested helmets must be worn on this ride.
