50 Cycles

50cycles.com was established by two brothers Scott & Tim Snaith back in early 2003 who inspired by the ebike market in Japan wanted to reduce the congestion and pollution in major cities around the world by promoting the use of Electric Bikes.

Both brothers lived in major cities one being Tokyo where Scott was working in Financial services and Tim was in London working for Sky television.

For many years during Scott’s time overseas in destinations such as Bali, Phuket and Singapore ideas would go back and forth with the hope of building a business whereby they would either export goods from the UK to south east Asia or import goods to the UK and start a business.

In early March 2003 at the usual time of day, the two brother would discuss business ideas using MSN Hotmail chat. Late evening for Scott in Tokyo would be the afternoon for Tim. On a particular day Tim had just come from his lunch break where he had spotted an electric bicycle made by Honda. Tim was really excited with the belief that he may have found a solution for himself to commute from north London to central London without the need for dirty public transport anymore. On that day Tim asked Scott if he could get one from Honda who were only a couple of miles to where his office was located.

Immediately looking at the product and how futuristic it was Scott could see the potential of a new business, an original business that had never really been done before. It was just the kind of thing the two brother were looking for.

The next day Scott immediately called Honda and arranged an appointment for a test ride with a view to place an order for two bikes. On the maiden test ride the pedal immediately broke away from the bike. This was due to the size of a Japanese rider of which the bike was built for, compared to Scott's European 95kg build. The Honda staff quickly apologised and came back the next day with another model that had been tightened up.

With the two bikes ordered and on the way Tim got down to business and developed a simple one page website whilst Scott managed the logistics of getting the bikes to the UK and looked at how to handle sales leads once enquiries started to come in. They sold a bike within about 7 days of the website going live. The business was born, Electric bikes were now set to take the UK by storm.

It was only a few month later where they grow from just importing two bikes a month to 5 bikes, 10 bikes and then container loads of branded models from China up until 2008 where they switched strategies by using European manufacturers and brands that would see them become the number one electric bicycle outlet in the UK now selling over 300 bikes a month during the peak season.

A2B

From the very start we’ve followed our passion for redefining the journey.

The commitment in 2008 was to change the electric bike market forever with the world’s first true ebike, with its own bespoke internal motor system.

But simply starting an engineering revolution wasn’t enough.

We wanted our collection to have its own, distinct identity, and not simply look like bicycles with batteries added. So our German design team created an entire range of ebikes that ride as beautifully as they look.

Our range is the result of the engineering innovation and design brilliance of our Berlin design centre.

In A2B we believe that it’s the tiny details that make our e-bikes so special; the loving attention to detail, drive for perfection, thought and hard work that goes into each and every model.

Our bikes are a true labour of love, and that passion comes across in the design and rides of our range. And we hope that you feel that love when you take possession of your own A2B e-bike.

E-bikes providers to businesses and organisations.

A2B acquired the Electric Bicycle Network (EBN), the UK’s largest e-bike hire organisation in 2013. EBN currently provides over 5,000 e-bike hires a year throughout the UK’s largest national parks.

We are prepared to answer to various business requirements and our ambitions are to help mobilising more people while increasing fitness, promoting a healthier lifestyle and reducing Co2.

EBike Centres

Ebike Centres are a leading electric bike specialist, based in Leicester city centre and just 200 metres from ‘The Curve’. We work with Freego, Wisper, Raleigh and many other great brands; and all national ‘Cycle to Work’ schemes.

We believe that electric bikes will transform our cities and the way we commute. We base this on a simple fact:

A 3 mile commute on an electric bike could take less than 15 minutes in rush hour, and cost less than one pence! No other form of motorised transport can beat that.

Our approach is simple and pro-active:
Go out into communities and workplaces with an electric bike and ask people to try one – and they will be converted!

We work in partnership with agencies, authorities and organisations to offer low cost access to electric bikes.

Partnership case studies:

Jobcentreplus (Leicestershire) partnered with Ebike Centres to provide an electric bike to eligible job seekers who accept a job offer. The employee will own the bike after two years of low repayments.

‘Wheels to Work’ (both Leicester City & Leicestershire) rents electric bikes to trainees, apprentices and students for £10 per month. Ebike Centres provides the bikes, rider training and equipment, with a service package included.

The University of Leicester’s electric bike pool scheme, established in 2014, helps staff travel sustainably between campuses. It will be expanded in spring 2016. Ebike Centres supplied the ebikes with a servicing package, and rider training for staff.

If you think electric bikes could be part of your sustainable future, please come and see us at the ‘Ebike Pavilion’, or contact us directly.

Emu Electric Bike

All electric bikes are not equal, and there are a few things that make the Emu Electric Bike stand out…

A retro frame and design features complement smooth welding and attention to detail, making Emu as smart to look at as it is fun to ride. A choice of four eye catching colours and a range of carefully chosen accessories. Emu is a British brand with bikes designed by leading experts in the UK and Europe.

Emu is one of the highest quality electric bikes available, with Shimano brakes and hub gears, utilising Samsung battery cells, integrated lights, an integrated bell, pannier, stand and a comfortable saddle. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail.

Emu’s battery will give you a range of 30-80km off one charge, and with 6 power settings and 7 gears, you can choose how much of a workout you want, allowing you to move around cities or the countryside with ease.

The patented removable quick-charging battery can be unlocked and charged in your home/office from a regular mains socket. Emu even has an in-built USB port so you can charge your Smartphone whilst on the move.

The electric motor powers the front wheel pulling you forward, while you power the the rear wheel. This gives you a natural balance, not found in designs using central or rear hub drives that unbalance the bike

Every Emu comes with a 2 year warranty on all major parts giving you complete peace of mind.

Green Commute Initiative

DID YOU KNOW?

Around 6 people an hour die in the UK from poor air quality?

Cyclists have much lower exposure to NO2 and Diesel particulates than any other commuter?

Car drivers suffer over twice the exposure because the pollution gets trapped in their cars?

The Green Commute Initiative is about getting commuters out of their cars, out of the congestion, improving the quality of the air they and the rest of us breathe and letting them arrive at work less stressed, not sweaty, wearing normal clothes and with a huge smile on their faces.

We do this by giving commuters a hands and feet on experience of e-bikes. Then if they like it, they can pay for one monthly and save up to 42% on the retail price. They will own the bike and can use it for other things than commuting.

Employers get a substantial tax incentive to help and the really good news is they don’t need to find any cash to do so. So absolutely no affect on their cash flow!

We take care of everything. All the employer and employee need to do is tell us they’d like to do it and sign the necessary agreements.

We can supply any kind of bike including non electric and we have resellers all over the UK so as well as supporting a local bike shop, you know  service and support is nearby.

Simple, dead easy, profitable, fun. And every e-bike comes with a guaranteed smile!

RSI Cycle

RSI, a bicycle and component distributor/manufacturer serving the industry nationwide since 1956,  is showcasing the unique Mando Footloose IM chainless electric-bike.

Advanced capabilities including breakthrough chainless Series Hybrid Technology that powers the rear wheel’s internal motor. With no mechanical connection between the cranks and rear wheel, they are connected through an alternator.  The company leverages its heritage in sophisticated automotive technology through its Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that monitors the bike’s condition and manages the system.

Integrated technology includes a small removable Human Machine Interface (HMI) computer display on the handlebars acting as the bike’s dashboard, providing the user with power, speed, maintenance and even health/fitness information. It communicates with the bike’s other systems to notify the user of changes in terrain, maintenance issues and battery level. Removal of the detachable HMI display, acting as an electronic key, renders the bike unusable providing an efficient security system.

It’s the ideal urban commuter vehicle with a 36-volt, 8.2Ah rechargeable lithium-ion removable battery pack delivering up to a 60km (37-mile) maximum range while pedalling, speed-limited to 25 Km/h and weighing just over 21 kilos (47 pounds). The retail price of £2400 GBP is reduced to £1380 using the government backed schemes such as ProC2w where the employee gets a reduction of around £1000 through NI savings and by paying around £116 per month through salary sacrifice for 12 months then owns the bike. Additionally the employer gets back around £750 in reduced employers NI contributions and capital allowances.
